Obviously Europe needs to take ownership of European problems and resist any attempts of the USA to inject its interests into the solutions.
This may be impossible currently as Europe is not (yet) The United States of Europe. Nobody knows if this is possible, but I guess we need to give it a try

Zelenskyy achieved that Trump lost his temper and openly revealed his underlying agenda, doing damage to his foreign policy reputation. So on the one hand, he illustrated to his own people that Trump was bluffing, on the other he could travel directly to London and get back up by European leaders.

It appears that the US is selling out Ukraine. The US is shifting sides, acting as a mouthpiece for Russian propaganda, willing to abandon Ukraine.
Trump is just looking for excuses to justify the betrayal.

It ultimately will be irrelevant. Europe can help push Ukraine past the tipping point and defeat Putin at the high strategic level. I believe it will. The US will simply keep imploding until an anti-MAGA movement goes super-nova, or it doesn't and it succumbs to authoritarianism.

Regardless of Trump’s narcissism, there seems to be goals that the Trump administration wanted to achieve, as evidenced by this excerpt from the Project 2025 Mandate for Leadership describing the competing goals within the conservative movement.
