This. Culturally I think we're embracing NOT NEEDING OTHER PEOPLE AT ALL except we still live in a society that requires maintenance even if we choose not to interact with it often.

There's been a steady erosion of a the idea of a social contract between members of society for a while now, and I'm having a difficult time not seeing the outcome of the election & surrounding issues as the nadir of that decay.
