Depends on if their parents read it to them or get the books for them or not I guess... It's kinda hit or miss. And that goes for more than just the newer generation of kids too. At least a few kids I knew growing up never read the stories and only knew about the Disney version.
i never grew up on stuff like snow white or little red riding hood, but whatever the fuck was going on in Alice in Wonderland was formative to my entire being (i know it isn't reeeally a fairy tale, but it's at least adjacent)
now i'm a sucker for gothic circus-y playing card shit lol
I grew up on a diet of classic fairy tales so any media that features fairytale crossovers (a number of 2000 webcomics and also shrek) felt like the avengers
i have such fond memories of the first shrek movie... watched it on the plane with my mom during the trip where we moved overseas (also our first time being on a plane)
Me being introduced to “Into the Woods” growing up. I must have read this particular book my grandmother had about a hundred times. I’m happy she gave it to me when I got older.
that depends on plenty of factors, but as far as I know reading fairytale books sometimes serves as kids' homework, so at least there exist people reading them, I guess.
