Reminds me of a sci-fi short story where there's a pill that cures everything and makes you resistant to everything, basically immortal, but barely anyone takes it because it also turns your skin green.
In Philip Wylie's *Finnley Wren* there's "a brief but devastating vignette aimed at racism: a scientist discovers a drug which is a lifelong preventative for all known diseases at a cost of three-tenths of a cent per person, but no one will take it because it turns the user green." (Moskowitz 1974)
A lot of people don't understand that the issue with conversion therapy is not that it doesn't work but that it tries to change a fundamental part of you because people in society don't like it.

"Yeah, but I want to stay green."
*Green person of the camp kills themself*
"ππ I'm so sad the devil will use it against us. Sorry about him I guess"
And I think it's great for conversion therapy.
