I think we might start seeing a rise of the Journey of Water-type of attraction. Something that doesn't necessarily need an IP that gets a light dusting of IP in order to get greenlit.
I think you might be right, but I think that will be the exception to the rule. Even then, the focus of the thing becomes the IP to the guest. So the other elements get kinda lost.
The thing that frustrates me most about The Seas is that they absolutely could have gone this route and it would have been fine. They could easily have turned the ride into a class with Mr. Ray about the ocean ecosystem and it would have remained educational with a dash of IP to draw kids.
If u ask ppl about their fav ride you'd most likely get GotG, Rise, Pandora, Remy, Frozen as anything else. HM is prob the only non IP attraction that can stand with them but a haunted mansion is such a common trope that it's basically IP anyway
Jungle Cruise could be the same as it was based on the African Queen. The difference is that with JC or Pirates versus modern attractions is the old were based genre where the new are based on specific IPs.
Deep lore, highly themed attractions, sometimes feels like you took shrooms before riding? Boy, do I have some attractions and lands for Disney fans to look into. But in all seriousness, it helps forget about the pain of no more original rides when Efteling makes things like Symbolica and Baron.
