I figure if I’m telling the story I go all in. I figure that having a lot of info and an expansive world really adds desired depth and makes it an experience

I like to know who’s in my RPG party and craft stories that really relate to the players so it’s unique and in depth. I aim to really connect on multiple levels. If I can end a session with my players not wanting to pause I call that a win. I do a lot of prep time to hide details and hide clues.

I wish I had any of that kind of prepations but I'll often find my players love the railroad improv style to a story and I tend to mold events and characters based on where they want to go

Growing up gave me the mindset to be prepped for a lot of random things that could happen. That mindset makes it super easy to improv if my players decide to go off from the session I have planned out. In the stories I tell I make sure to have a decent amount of info to improv off 😅

Ahh I do love improv. I don’t do many improv sessions; not really what my group are into but honestly improv is always an amusing wild time and if that’s what works best for you then that’s a win. My group often do not go where I plan. Not an issue though since I have something prepared generally.
