Did you read the Foundation Trilogy? First, SciFi book I ever read and reread it periodically, still my favorite. Couldn't get into the streaming series. Dune was the second. Read about three of them and then got a bit too phantasmagorical for me. But the original few are Iconic.
Absolutely a favorite. I just added the book series to my wish list. I want to watch the whole series for a third time. I adore Holden, those puppy dog eyes, but **devoted** to Drummer and Avasarala.
Both great! Foundation is about a guy who predicts that society (a galaxy) is about to crumble and the leader (Lee Pace!) who isn't too happy about his prediction, and Silo is about humans who live in a massive underground dwelling and don't know how they got there (but are going to find out)
Ah, I have to confess something: I was being facetious and/or disingenuous towards you, by pretending that Foundation and Silo were one singular thing. I'm kind of an advocate of the Oxford comma, and this would have been the perfect time to use it. Sorry for being disingenuous.
Agree! I feel lucky that I came across it by chance shortly after its release on Kindle. I think it also represents an important milestone as one of the first Amazon self published books to achieve best seller status (or something like that — it was big and Hugh Howley is a rock star)
I’m really curious to watch Silo! I’ve been watching Dune consistently but I have to admit I’ve been disappointed with it. I know the series has so much to live up to, but I was reallllly hoping HBO could pull it off! (And maybe they will in the remaining episodes??)
Ever tried out Warhammer 40,000? Great books and games (and minis of course) - and the first ever TV appearance happens tomorrow in Secret Level on prime video!
Eisenhorn is a good starting book for intrigue/espionage, Gaunt’s Ghosts for gritty combat from a human perspective, Horus Rising for grand space opera (all those are by Dan Abnett), or if you want to jump right into the grimdark deepend, Night Lords by Aaron Dembski-Bowden ;)
I was lukewarm on Foundation season 1, but boy oh boy did they kick it up a notch with season 2. I was SO skeptical of Apple TV+ at first, but they may not have a ton of shows but the signal to noise ratio really is fantastic.

Dune hasn’t felt HBO quality to me through the first 3 episodes.
Silo I’m scared of because I wasn’t into Slow Horses
Head in the sand.
Head in the stars.
And, uh, headed out for a cleaning.
