in this bossfight I've messed up a lot and still won when I switched back to my trusty spear, the shield arm aided me to parry -in this game is kind of hard to perform a perfect parry, but even imprecise ones can be recovered and the shield is there to help those like me who are struggling-

Oh yeah it's like the witcher 3 game, which I have it for my birthday, I see what you mean. I use the shield sign spell to parry my opponent's attacks and then use a shockwave sign spell, it worked well. So I see what you mean.

I can assure you Lies of P is hard but fair, much like Hollow Knight
you've even got a specter to help you out in bossfights that can be overwhelming, even using certain game mechanics to your own advantage to make it easier
