creating art isn't a reversible process. a machine can't just go from the raw pixels back to the complex experiences, thoughts, feelings, and social influences that led to it.
Honestly as someone that has always been interested in generative art (fractals, earlier neural network, and such) I’ve had a similar feeling from the recent hype cycle. We used to think playing chess was the ultimate sign of intelligence. AI is really good at teaching us what mind isn’t.

Generative AI is a remix machine. You show it actual art, it generates remixes following prompts. It doesn't understand what it's doing, and you can tell.
