Ben Wallace, former UK Secretary of State for Defence, had already suggested this solution. It would make it possible to free up Ukrainian combat forces that are currently forced to defend the border.

I think it would be great if they can relieve our defenders on the Belarus border, so they can be redirected somewhere more useful. Its such a huge amount of border we have to protect, we have the soldiers to hold the russians back, just that they are spread all over 1000km
