It's a still for me. If you posted it using the image attatchment icon, that's why. You need to use the video attatchment icon to upload a GIF as an animated clip.
Recently (as seen here), if you go to the little film stock icon to add a video clip, GIFs are among the options. You can choose your GIF and BSky will convert it to some video format and include it. You can post GIFs using the picture attachment, but it'll show to viewers as a still.
Not with custom GIF uploads you haven't been able to. You had to convert them into MP4s first. https://deck.blue allows it but they only show up as animated for other https://deck.blue users.
It's not native support, but there's a Feed that will show you any posts you added a 📌 emote to, which acts as a Bookmark feature for now! Just reply to any post you want to pin with that emote and it'll be on here! https://bsky.app/profile/did:plc:q6gjnaw2blty4crticxkmujt/feed/my-pins
I'm not sure if I'm happy considering it's converting it into a video that's 4x the size while—barely—keeping 1/4th of the quality. 😅
Granted, the dithering pattern here is somewhat wost-case for lossy compression.
Sure, better than nothing, but calling it 'GIF support' is stretching it a little. 🙃
I sat here for a dozen or so loops to see what you meant. It buffered and lost quality on the second loop for a bit, but then went back to normal and all the others play just fine quality? Seems alright to me. 🤷♂️

God bless. 💙🇪🇺🇺🇦💜🕊
Full native support I'm still askin' for.
How did you get it to come out so clearly? or is it a specific size?
And it looked so endearing and energetic too ^^
Surely, dead giveaways

every loop buffers for just long enough to make the gif blurrier than before. since when were gifs hard to display
