Right and wrong, or the common good'? If a party went around campaigning for folk named McConnell to be strung up, would he still defend absolute free speech? There are limits for good reason.

Maybe, but his 'deathbed' conversion is more than interesting and suggests he subjugated his own views for party discipline in the Senate. I agree with him on virtually nothing, but I think his recent votes shine a light on him, albeit far to little and far too late

If the right regain power in Britain one of their key objectives would be to bring that situation here. They would lift all limits and rules about donations, including those preventing money from abroad and allow TV advertising of politics. All this would be done under the label of "free speech".
