It took me almost a month, but I finally saw A Complete Unknown this afternoon and absolutely loved it. It's well worth checking out if you haven't watched it yet.

Some hard-core Dylan fans are taking the stance that you should not enjoy it because of the liberties they took with the timeline but I say relax, enjoy it. It’s super fun and I’m so happy that they pulled it off. That said, I will never see a Jerry Garcia biopic, and I hope they never make one.
My human father-in law was a classmate of Bob at Hibbing High. Yes, yearbook and all. It’s terribly interesting to me that the town doesn’t embrace Bob more. Hard core mining town mentality that didn’t seem to mix well with Bobs.
I am anxious to see the film.
Bob will be revered for centuries.
The film has grown on me. Superficially, it’s a standard biopic but makes it sharper is how it’s less about Dylan and more about the context of a moment. It’s reflective & maybe even slightly subversive of genre—Dylan remains largely unknown, the enigma & mirror of his times.
It’s very much an ensemble piece, Bob is kind of an enigma at the centre that everyone else is trying to work out.
I really enjoyed how prominent Pete Seeger and Woody Guthrie were as well.
Glad you enjoyed A Complete Unknown. Have you considered other films by Daniel Schmid, like Monika or The Street Singer? They're also great examples of his unique style.
Saw it, agree with complaints in some reviews as to some lack of historical accuracy (not an expert myself), liked it as a movie and for the music whatever else might apply.
why, I watched the Real guy as we grew up..I was always kind'a baffled about the Christmas album, mostly. But, I sure remember Pete trying to unplug the stage when Bob plugged in the Strat..that was a ruckus.
If you can understand this kid clearly, that ain't Bob Zimmerman.
I have all the records.
I loved it! Me and my dad (huge Bob Dylan fan) watched it and he agreed. He said timothee chalamet did an excellent job playing Bob Dylan and he embodied him and his music.
Same here. We all went (parents + teen) and each loved it for different reasons. Every bit of the music was gorgeous, the casting - yes, Chalamet and Norton but especially Monica Barbero - was impeccable, and the NY village atmosphere crackled. Such a warm movie, there's a lot to love.

It was a star turn for Monica Barbaro as Joan Baez.
*A complete unknown* I agree, a must see, songs brought back memories.
