I encountered something new... someone at Sony in 1972 decided to use a capacitor as a zip tie. This capacitor is holding down 6 or so wires. I have no idea what they were thinking

I have to desolder the capacitor just to remove the board, which means most likely the cap was soldered in after the whole rest of the radio was assembled. what a mess. The whole thing is hand soldered, and you can see parts that had to be rewired at the factory.
here's another shot of the board. i managed to pull it a little further out, so i might be able to work on it without pulling off the weird cap. idk if anyone is interested in this. i usually don't repair stuff old enough to be fully hand-soldered, so it's cool to me.
