I saw. Absolutely shameful. If it was a Ukrainian filmmaker who’d won an Oscar their whole membership would be making statements and posting about it. Time for the double standards to end.

It’s abhorrent. Palestinian identity is the heart of the documentary and the fact that other Palestinians were beaten up is absolutely related to it. I doubt the Academy would stand up for Ukrainian filmmakers, considering the film they chose as Best Picture.
It’s such a non-statement! The film industry is in such a bad shape that they’re afraid of saying anything that’s out of step with the current US foreign policy. It doesn’t excuse the cowardice or putting politics before their commitment to the arts but that’s the state of things.
I don’t even think it’s related to the current Administration because they were completely silent & many of their members endorsed Biden/Harris (who armed and provided diplomatic cover for this genocide in the first place). The Academy needs to divest from Zionism.
