I loved what he said when he stood against Parental Advisory Explicit Content stickers on records. The interviewer asked “Is there not a single record that you wouldn’t want your own children to hear the words to?” “Yes”, says Frank “We Are The World!” Beautiful!!
Frank Zappa and I met in 1967
His music form my anthems
Brown Shoes don't make it is a classic and so perfect for today's political scene

Was he ahead? I think he was spot on for the times. Don't let the narrative of the 21st century reactionaries make you forget how the 20th century really was.
I loved his interview about Parental Advisory Stickers on albums with explicit lyrics. He was against them. “So, Mr Zappa, are there any songs with lyrics you’d not want your children to hear?” “Yes. We Are The World!” Boom. He’s the real deal.
He would have made a superb politician, his dry, insightful perception was pretty unique although Robin Williams was another with a similar gift. I'm old enough to have enjoyed them when they arrived on the scene and at their peak. I miss them both.

Great character
Hmm, also, frank fired Lowell George from the Mothers in 2969. Good and bad - he might not formed Little Feat had he stayed…
1969 of course, mind you he was allegedly fired for smoking pot.
And you are almost right - he wasn't so much ahead of his time, it's more that most people are behind it, not really keeping up.
Yer man was just more in tune than most people realised at the time.
He was already a marked man
(Or have I imagined all that‽)

Current situation summed up perfectly in a concise manner.
Very insightful man.
