Be careful what you wish for. Redirecting exports from US to other markets will be something China might do as well. There will be temptations of protective measures against that. At which point a real "beggar thy neighbour" issue comes up. This is a time for cool heads.

The world is in a unique situation where they should all be comparing with each other where to create new trade channels; with the US completely excluded. Yes I'm aware there are complexities involved but cutting the reliance for anything from the US is essential for everyone.

The US will naturally buy less of our stuff because of tariffs and Trump's recession. We should stop buying US goods and services, particularly military gear, as we never know when Trump will cut off supplies.

We should pursue free trade everywhere, with few exceptions.

It’s simple really. A world of 8b people will have to trade less with the richest 0.33b people and thereby will get richer compared to those 0.33b people.

But focus on the European services trade deficit as that is where the US tech billionaires control our socioeconomic development.
