I truly want to understand. I spent about 30 hours trying to draw the one hero I was missing in xenosaga 2, and I spent way more than I should’ve trying to do the same in Genshin. I quit both. Why do ppl like these?

So I'm not playing now but do remember when I was. I actually wasn't a completionist or collector, rather I had a handful of favorite characters and would dote on them trying to get all the alts and upgrades because seeing them around and effective in the party made me happy.
This wasn't SUPER compelling for me—even if I lost I balked at spending more than a small amount. But I can imagine a stronger form of this easily enough.
I agree tho, I hate it so much when my faves become obsolete. ;)
