How did I not know until today that Henry "Box" Brown--fugitive slave, lecturer, & Black performance artist who was ahead of his time, lived in Toronto for the last 10 years of his life? (Long after he mailed himself to Philadelphia abolitionists.) He's buried in a cemetery near Cabbagetown.
