really underappreciated how despite being the main character of politics for literally the last decade, for a lot of people Trump is still the guy from The Apprentice

Fooled me for the first season, too. Should’ve known better b/c SO grew up on the Jersey Shore during the ‘80s, when Trump casinos, its legal wars against Merv Griffin Enterprises, and its stiffing of small, local contractors were front-page news.

I honestly think at this point the attraction is that he gets away with so much. It has become a vicious circle: he’s popular because he gets away with everything, and he gets away with everything because he’s popular. It says a lot about the American psyche.

He's more like an intern now for one of Musk's projects. Many people have no idea how to separate fact from fiction or reality from fantasy and believe many actors are the people that portray. Nevermind being able to assess intelligence from someone's communication.

I think that Trump voters use “he’s a businessman so he’ll fix the country” as an excuse to justify their vote for him. I think that the real reason they vote for Trump him is that he promised to hurt the people they hate. That matters more to them than anything else. It’s a movement built on hate.
