Weβre fortunate in that our keyboardist is also a pretty great engineer. Both this album and its immediate predecessor were tracked & mixed by him. As is the new one weβre working on.

My friend said "Production level is a massive step up, sound design is sick. Feels nice and spacey, which lets the percussion & bass punch through- love it"
I don't know what sort of binaural black magic wizardry you have going on here, but even through monitors, there's a specific pulse that sounds like it's coming from right in front of my ears. The manipulation of space in general is super impressive here.

I'm from El Dorado Arkansas, not too far from Shreveport lol
Also thank you so much, that whole album's concept was "playing songs and telling stories in your living room on a rainy day" so you nailed it
This opening track from our new album is probably the most none-electronic, organic, layered instrumental track we've done. Mixing it took a long time but I'm still quietly impressed with how it sounds across a long, dynamic runtime. It was made in bedroom studios
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=63QZ1GoifHE&ab_channel=Brocken80
(Though being Munich based, there are only a vew venues with live music.)
Nice idea Brandon!
I'm fond of this one, it was the first thing that I finished on the last album, and it helped set the tone of the thing.
The rhythmic drop at 2:22 paid off really nicely in this, and I LOVE the cheeky preemptive triplet right before you move into the shuffle at ~2:50. Felt kind of like a conductor prepping an ensemble for the modulation.
Appreciate you noticing the shuffles, it really needed those or it was too jarring.
π
Bonus points for the cool video, which I hadn't seen before.

This is our song what if, the lyrics deal with the regrets you feel when you treated people wrong. Also I think itβs a cool rock song π

Uh I donβt actually know how to share a single song, but I absolutely feel proud of this piano tape loop record and in particular βSmall Hopeβ. Itβs the closest Iβve ever come to getting whatβs in my head out into the world.
It's VERY silent, but I think it is my best one yet

I might go for something a bit more melodic my next track, but I like that I was able to make a more complex but groovy drum pattern for this. I also like that I was able to make a simpler track without going overboard with a million different sections or sounds
https://backboneshiver.bandcamp.com/track/something-and-nothing
The synth was actually a guitar.
I think I had a digitech RP200 - I would use the expression pedal to pitch the note down while I would slide the note up.
https://luciaa.bandcamp.com/track/fim-de-festa
What is the low guitar sound? It's in the bass range but doesn't quite sound like a bass. Is it a Bass VI? Low tuned baritone? Or am I just crazy?
I'm so glad you took the time to listen carefully, this track is my greatest pride as a musician. The lyrics are the bitterest thing I've ever written, but it's from deep in my heart.
But seriously, I always try to make my music using the most basic gear available but still trying to make something that sounds big in some way. Limitations aren't the enemy, they only make us more creative.
Musicians aren't typically very rich and some of the most amazing music was via creative problem solving. It's funny when old cheap gear suddenly becomes expensive because someone made something popular with it but it was never about the specific gear - it was about finding solutions on a budget
https://hardcoreascetic.bandcamp.com/track/celsius-232
I made this one after I left a group of people that weren't good for me that I knew for 12 years. I like to listen to it when feeling inspired & hyped about the future & how far I've gone. It reminds me I can do much, stay determined & feel elated as I have before
devour: I love how you wield your tastes in IDM (all those little sounds) and Industrial (that bass synth!) like machetes to carve out your own lovely weird space of sound design and composition.
Iβm glad you enjoyed it, and I love the way youβve described it!
I think you might appreciate the remix my homie did of it too, where he pulled a lot of traditional instruments into the mix while retaining the original in the best way.

single from my album which still isnt out. maybe the catchiest song i have made so far. sounds inspired by supertramp even though i didnt know them at the time. i dont really like the mix anymore because i made it on different headphones but it holds up. oh well
I managed to mix doom metal, radiohead and silent hill into something pretty cool I think, even though the timing's rough in bits.
(listens)
Aw yeah this is pretty great!
Also, lol, I saw your lineup on the right side and until I saw "D's Laptop" I thought maybe they were ratings and you were being real hard on yourself. π
Normally I'll just double the octave or go with a power chord, but I got a little spicier with the intervals this time around
I also just kinda put more effort into things than usual like the drums and some of the bass flourishes
Named after my daughter, btw.
