Savard has done a great job for Habs: blocked shots, physical play, cup winner's mentoring, all-around good guy.
BUT years have caught up to him.
His slowness is now a big enough problem that it outweighs all those qualities. Even at minimum salary, MTL has better options for 2025-2026.

Savard still has value for contender this Spring is the point... Might only be PK but there is value. Not saying moving forward there aren't better options but someone trying to win a cup this year could use him.

Yes.
He's a true short-term rental.
Hence he would fetch a modest return for the Habs at the trade deadline.
Might as well keep him to play out the season. He could help MTL achieve a Cinderella finish.
