I simply cannot fathom why democratic senators seem to think “I opposed every single fucking thing Trump tried to do” is a less-winning argument than “well I opposed some things but like… you can’t oppose *everything* an autocrat does, right?”

My dumb brain on Crusaders Kings 3 can imagine that the dems think they'll win if they can raise the opinion on the republican politicians high enough by sacrificing the popular opinion that doesn't matter because "where the plebs opposing the gop would go?".
One of mine is on here and she's generally pretty rad (Patty Murray), but Maria Cantwell does not give one single solitary fuck what a progressive has to say and she is NOT taking any calls.
What a fucking terrible Senator, simply awful. At least not a republican, but still a feckless turnip
1/2 At a town hall for one of mine on Saturday and genuinely, that was the feel I got from the crowd and the way their questions vibed. He was talking about how we needed to reach across the aisle to get Republicans to defect and all, but audience definitely was in the 'They grind stuff to a halt
My question for those pitching “we have to reach out to get them to defect” is “can you point to a single time in this term that you got enough defections to change the outcome?”
Because “oh well one did vote against RFK” doesn’t really sell me on it.
Pretty much. Like, I understand, intellectually, trying to hold to some sort of high ground but well...? When you've watched them run roughshod over the systems of government and eroding it in real time, I think maybe we're a step beyond that.

I assume it’s political triangulation, but who in the hell do they think they gain support from by helping confirm Trump’s nominees?
