Used to have a salamander pet as a kid, a drain pipe rescue. I would handle it without gloves and "socialize it." Years later, after it had passed, we identified it as a firebelly. I'm amazed I did not die from sheer ignorance. RIP Sam the Salamander. You were a real one. Thanks for not killing me.

I just can’t. They’re too precious. I’m sorry to say I had no idea some of them hatched straight out like that, having no larval stage! I showed husband the photo of the tiny baby with your finger too and even he melted at it🙏🏻💗

It’s edible!! I used to snack on it a lot as a kid lmao but it’s very sour and makes your stomach hurt if you eat too much 💀 but was def yummy in small amounts haha
