In other positive news - spoke to my instructor who is in charge of the 2 end of year functions we have to cook for - and I'm currently finalising & testing that vegan/GF set menu I devised so it can be reviewed and possibly included on the function menus.

The competence level isn't there. I was already asked to be on the other service shift anyway.
It's rare for any thought to be put into vego/vegan options when the majority of ppl eat anything
I'm not vegan but its important to me that vegan options are thoughtful stand alone creations on a menu, rather than after thoughts or last minute modifications.
I chose vegan/GF for this menu because that seems to be the two most common dietary we seem to have in the uni restaurant - and we don't have enough students who can modify recipes to cater outside of that.
I used to only be offered cheese salad so love the variety available now.
