What would an inclusive record system look like? Have gender, sex at birth and sex at present all listed?

I imagine some sort of system which allows you to record which screenings a person needs, so for most people that'd be implied by sex, but for those it doesn't work for, it allows you to flag "requires prostate screening" and "requires breast screening" as an override, rather than just inferring

so you'd populate that at the point you update your sex. The proposed system of just recording sex at birth just swaps the problem - if the NHS thought of me as male, I wouldn't be invited to breast cancer screenings, for example. needs a bit more nuance than just sex

Now I'm curious about the specificity of records. Eg, if someone had a dbl mastectomy, regardless of SaB, SaP or gender they wouldn't be needing a mammogram, do they still get a letter for screening?
If something like that can be taken into account then your proposal is totally appropriate.

I think there are ways of opting out (my medical record has me down as "missing cervix" so I'm opted out of those screenings), it's just that opting in is done by inferrence based on sex marker (and it shouldn't be imo)

There is something rather whimsical to me about how they have that recorded. As if it was accidentally left on a bus.

But clearly accommodations are and can be made for some things so could be done for others!

Treating me solely as my sex at birth would be wrong and I would miss screenings. Sex isn't binary, and the reason screenings get missed is because systems pretends it is. If the answer to that issue is to say that I'm biologically male, that is just as plain wrong to say my sex at birth was female.

What we are seeing are the results of a campaign to eradicate trans people from society. The Sullivan review is fundamentally flawed and to see Labour embrace it shows they're going to build the systems that help our eradication.
