this is rad! So would it be correct to assume that the remakes of RE 2/3/4 are interchangeable for their originals here? are there any major differences to how stuff plays out?

Thank you! Capcom’s official stance is that they’re simultaneously canon. The 2/3/4 remakes however leave out a MASSIVE amount of context and skip parts of the story. The broadest strokes are the same, but in all three cases the originals should take priority if it’s the lore you’re interested in.

Don’t get me wrong btw, they’re really great games, but the best way to put it is the OG RE4 directly sets up the current conflict in RE7/8, while the remake not only doesn’t mention it, the character that originally mentioned it doesn’t even have a way of knowing about it now.

Such a shame Heavenly Island was never translated. Plus, Viz doesn't publish the Marhawa Desire manga anymore. I wish Capcom would see that some fans want to read the manga.

There's TEN FUCKLOADS of non-canon media btw, easily as many stories that aren't canon as are. It's hard to categorize them since so much of them take place in their own self-contained canon, and would thus splinter off into dozens of individual timelines.

The comics as in Resident Evil's official licensed comics, or comics as in my Romero's RE adaption? The official American comics are a bit all over the place, but they're more easily categorized than non-American print media.
