It's not just a lack of tension; influencers have zero motivation to mimic the ethics demanded by journalism b/c it slows down production. Lying/peddling unverifiable rumors and gossip can all be cranked out at scale. The economics of the attention economy demand that they mostly spew bullshit

Something I write a bit about in The Sirens' Call is that all journalism has to compete for attention, but at least there is some other ethic also present - truthfullness, fact checking, etc -- that can be in tension, but that journalists have to navigate. But for lots of people: there's no tension!
