Confession: I did order a refill of my meds today, they were due. But in keeping with the spirit of the boycott, I will not pay for them or pick them up until the weekend.
I think it's difficult for gas only for those who do work (semi/delivery like me)) but everything else seems more manageable. I don't want to feel horrible, but I understand. please do what you can-- I don't want to be jumped here, but it's more difficult for me, but I WILL do what I can 👍
If you’ve been wondering “ what can I, one person, do to make my voice heard and save democracy?”; This IS one thing you can do today.
Tomorrow you can go to https://indivisible.org and ask for information on your local chapter. Or just donate. Each of us must do our part.
I'm sorry the intentions are good but if you still buy from them at all, you're supporting literal fascists. Never buy from them again. No amount of convenance will force me to support literal fascists.
The most frustrating part of this is all the phonies boycotting today but not any other day. Most of these things you should have already boycotted. Those of us that really care don't need one day, we do it everyday. Don't let today be the end of your boycott, keeping it going.
At least you're trying, but this is what I'm talking about. Many of us boycotted Amazon long ago. It's something y'all should already be boycotting. Most of this stuff is. The boycotts started long ago for us that really care
Let's use this as a starting point to boycott all of the businesses supporting t&m&v asap, for as long as possible. A 1 day blackout is terriblely naive, especially with what t&v did yesterday
We need to do this on a regular basis. We also need to go after specific companies always. Start by using less gas/diesel. We all make unnecessary trips.
THE MOST IMPORTANT BOYCOT IS ANYTHING ELON MUSK! Drop Starlink! Don't buy Tesla. Contact your reps in DC, tell them to stop giving him contracts!
I'm inner-city. Our only small businesses are bodegas and they charge twice as much as Walmart. It's privileged to do this boycott. Good for you but I got paid today and I need to eat.
Everyone has different circumstances, and no one should be shamed for not being able to boycott. I work at a gas station, bought bread before midnight, and forgot it. I'm eating rolled sandwich meat and cheese now. I'll get a free cookie at one job and free coffee at another.
Today we send a message, by not 🚫 doing something.
Hey but here's something to do if you're bored, don't go buy something, do this instead, call ☎️ the Capital switchboard, talk to your representatives or at least leave them a message.
It's the start of a journey. We can't just teleport to the finish line and have to start somewhere. One day may not mean much, but if that one day becomes two, then three, then a week, a month, and so forth then it matters.
We as a society have been conditioned to consume and breaking that cycle (our marathon) won't happen in a day. Yesterday was the first day of training for a lot of people.
If you've never been a runner, but decide that you want to run a marathon, you don't get up on the day of the marathon and show up to run without any training. You start small and work up to it.
Did you read beyond my first few words? Or do you just want to be fatalistic? I said that one day becomes two, then three, then a week, month, and so forth.
My shopping day. Not going.
“DO SOMETHING!!”
I can’t do much, but I will certainly do what I’m able to do.
Red inspiration? Rewatch Michele Obama’s speech from the last Democratic Convention!
“DO SOMETHING!”
Yes totally. Nothing being shopped. Not even a dime worth spending today. February 28, 2025 is the day of starting the Gandhi like peaceful nonviolent, noncompliance movement in USA. It’s a day when “Satyagraha” started in USA against the tyranny of the US 47th POTUS Administration.
I am not buying anything today, but I think this needs to be a sustained effort!! We should have an economic blackout every Wednesday!! We need to create momentum so many others can join in. They can show up by not showing up! It can be a quiet act, but have a huge impact
Whats funny is that you could literally do this every day (except for gas I guess, gotta have that car-centric "urbanism"), but you wont, I bet you cant stop consooming even for one day lol. You will just keep feeding the machine until it eats you.
Wrong. I do this every single day. I buy groceries once a week and then only what need for the upcoming week. And I do not shop at any of the fascist supporting stores to my knowkedge.
Nope. Cutting way back, shop at Trader Joe’s or Aldi’s (owned by same German company.)
Not buying new clothes (pulling out the “vintage rarely worn” and need a desk going to second hand or yard sales. Making my own daily coffee. Doing what we can.
Instead of it going down in history that trump broke America, make it go down in history that the American people did not allow that to happen, that they stood by their constitution and took power back from trump and Russia
Well, I'm not in the US, but the only thing I bought today was bread at the local bakery, after having a nice coffee and croissant at their café.
FWIW -- I'm not buying anything American over here in France, either.
Sorry for those who didn't vote for the 3 dipsticks, but I'm voting with my wallet.
Oui :) j'ai prendre un double expresso avec une goutte de lait.
Did I fool you into thinking I'm good at French? :)
I'm not, but I'm trying. :) (I live here, so it's imperative for me to learn the language.)
National blackout day
Means not buying from let’s say
Walmart, Wendy’s, and Amazon too,
We hope for one day to put on the screws!
If it works and hurts all these rich companies,
We will do it again and they won’t think it’s funny!
We are doing it. It’s going well so far. My Dad (80) almost went to McDonald’s but my adult daughter explained what was going on and he made a peanut butter sandwich 🥪 instead
I thought this was going to be easy - until I realized we were low on milk and dog food. Looks like pancakes for dinner and dogs get leftover chicken and noodles. lol Keep on fighting!
Pancakes for dinner is the best! And you used up some leftovers that might have gone to waste. Win win in my book!
If everyone could do just a few simple things every day, maybe we could get back to a life with less waste and less $$$s in the billionaire's pockets.
It’s just the beginning. Wait until todays Friday afternoon massacre. When enough people are directly affected, this is going to be an ongoing situation. I hate that people have to wait until they directly affected. I wish people had enough empathy to take action now.
I usually am so cynical about these sorts of things but honestly I'm sick and tired of saying I have no options to vent my frustrations. I'll pay my rent today but won't be shopping anywhere!
Strange, This didnt stop my state from making it
LEGAL to discriminate against me.
This didnt seem to stop them from making it
LEGAL To turn me away, EVEN if im DYING
at an ER.
Didnt stop our President from allying with dictators and making all our FORMER allies our NEW Enemies.
nobody gonna listen if they're starving to death you muppet use the 2nd amendment buy a gun shoot the Nazis anything instead of pacifism that would never work be violent start a war or something peaceful protests will never work fight fire with fire
We have a fundraiser that was planned before this boycott, we are trying to get our show choir to nationals in March and running really behind our goal. So if people want to use that money to support a small choir from a low income school, we will be forever grateful! link in bio to donate now!
Yes it is! we are very proud of our show choir and will be only the 2nd school to represent our state at Show Choir Nationals at the Grand Ole Opry in Nashville. My son is a senior and this is a once in a lifetime opportunity.
I will donate something next Friday (payday). My nephew and niece (Hemerick) did marching band there, so I was delighted to see the school name. Small world...
That is fantastic! Thank you! The Marching Applemen had a grant and our show choir performed as part of the guard (choir guard) for the past 4 years. My son was able to compete at Marching Band Nationals this year and now Show Choir Nationals, amazing experiences!
Boycotts should last until the organisation or business you're boycotting meets your demands. They shouldn't be done for just one or two days or even a week because the companies will have time to prepare for the boycott. Also it's better to focus your efforts on a few select companies.
We are boycotting today and only food and absolute necessities until further notice. Big Corps and billionaires need to see The Power of the People next quarter!
I've been doing the food and absolute necessities since the new regime started. I'm disabled & on a fixed income to start with, so for me it's not that hard.
But honestly tired of giving my money to people who are actively trying to harm me.
Those multi million dollar companies are going to be so scarred by some people not shopping with them one day, but still shopping with them the day before, and the day after...

But some might not be so well situated.
Every little bit off their margin helps.

Call some stock brokers and politely ask them to get with the goddamn economic program.

Yeah I said 2 muffins, but came from the bakery and found 4 muffins, 3 savoury rolls, a potato pie and a bread loaf in the bag.
Worth it though, some days get served by someone who's first language is not English. DEI. Interesting happy fun ppl.
Rooting for the rest of you though, I hope you win.
