The problem is that does not get you rewarded it gets you looked over. Even looked down on.

First class I ever taught, I stepped back, tripped over a trash basket, & fell flat on my ass.
As a professor, you either admit it when you make mistakes or you look like an even bigger idiot.
And I still got fired.
(The 16 year old me is still embarrassing, even though I didn't know better.)
Shut up, take your lumps, move on.
I made a big mistake, which was well meaning but ended badly. I apologized to everyone involved. And I did learn from it, and haven't repeated that error.

All that happened is that I eventually became the trusted Art Director for my company.
But this administration?
They fail upwards.
A huge thing I value with wife; sheβs sharp and says it like it is. Which does not always go over well in the world; not blunt, but not overly diplomatic either, how she was grew up.
