I’m reading The Three Body Problem and I see what we are going through as very similar to China’s cultural revolution. Eventually the country needed knowledge and management and they returned. Right now we are in the Red Guard stage, burning everything down. It will not win.

Not an easy book to read but as I read I see parallels between the Red Guard and the republicans of today and Trump/Musk and the people who carried out Mao's purges of intellectuals and the so called "elite". It took years but eventually it unraveled, when no one was left to run anything.
