The Chinese are no angels - see Tibet and sending Chinese Muslims to concentration camps.

I think what is different with East Asia, like Korea, Taiwan and China is that the run mixed economies, state capitalism with central planning, instead of the libertarian small government model in the USA.

The west (particularly the US) is too busy squabbling with itself internally and the ‘curse’ of individuality. The east (particularly China) tends to emphasise collectivism and it works well when it comes to national development.

Exactly. Also instead of fixing the problems that we have internally they’d rather point the finger and blame six people in a boat, trans community, young black men, disabled, people on benefits etc instead government taking responsibility.

Absolutely! There are pros and cons to individualism and collectivism. The US seems quick to blame ‘others’ instead of looking in the mirror and going ‘oh it’s actually a structural problem that we should fix’. Failing to tackle wealth inequality, progressive taxation, universal healthcare etc.
