Why watch the mould riddled garbage of Harry Potter when you can watch Mashle: Magic and Muscles instead.
It actually explains how it's magic system works, its class/racism allegory actually makes sense and it's like fantasy One Punch Man. Better all across the board.
To clarify, I'm not shaming people for liking media oriented towards kids/young adults. I'm asking how you think one of the most cookie-cutter, derivative pieces of mass-media out there is absolutely irreplaceable. There's nothing it does that hasn't done better elsewhere.
there's kids media that is well written, narrative consistent, thought provoking, diverse, inclusive
like there is some GREAT stuff in the children's and YA space. why would you want to cling to this dusty shite? it's as embarrassing as being really into the Famous Five
Nah, they need shaming; to quote Robert Wyatt when he was asked about modern pop music; ‘I’m 60, I’d have to be some sort of a paedophile to have an interest in it’
I disagree. I don't think the target market of a piece of media makes it inherently bad just as making a piece of mature fiction doesn't make it inherently good. You'l get themes and genres in YA fiction that mature fiction largely ignores.
