To be fair, I don’t hate sports, but the weird parasocial hero-worship some people engage in has always weirded me out. Wearing a jersey on game day? Fine and recommended. Wearing a jersey not on game day and being an ass to someone else about their hobby? You’re cannon fodder.
One of my favorite stories my Mom told me, was growing up her and Dad were divorced but got along well and kept in constant communication about me all the time.
She said they called games a phase for years, and recalls the time they both eventually sat down and went "so uh, it isnt a phase".
It's so refreshing to see this. Idky my YouTube is recommending to me videos talking about giving up gaming for something more productive. Like... I can't have a hobby??? Just work till I die??? Hard pass!
I’ve been playing for decades and won’t stop, can’t stop. Gaming is for anyone who likes it. The only difference in gaming as you get older is reading glasses with the Steam Deck and Switch. And higher standards. Wish the industry could keep up.
I kind of uno-reversed my parents, who would tell me that "I'm too old to play" and that I have to "grow out of this phase" by literally making it my job. lol
(and I'm glad I did not let peer pressure make me quit gaming during my childhood/teenage years)

Tell who tell me I can't can unfriend themselves from my life.
“I see nobody ever took the stick out of your ass, huh?”
“Thank you! We value your opinion! We’ll reach out soon!”
To a jersey wearer: “Aren’t you a little old to be wearing your boyfriend’s name on your back?”
(Compared to me)

😂😂
That specific number then I'll slip off the ol' mortal coil
I say they're too old to be whining about someone else's hobbies.

I can go louder if needed.
Although I'm being cremated so they'll all be in my urn 😅
