D.Gray-man was the first time I saw a manga that had a variety of face types. Specifically, a variety that was drawn well (manga kinda has this thing where plenty of artists can't draw older people). It's exactly what I was trying to achieve in my own art at the time.
Yami no Matsuei was pretty graphic. For a style that was very beautiful with plenty of bishounen in it, I liked the contrast. It's one I think back to often, saying, 'I want my art to be more like this!'
