There are many kinds of good books. Some become favourites that we read over and over again during our lifetimes. Some might be taken down periodically to look up a fact, lend to a friend before being placed back on their shelves.

And then there are others that we know we’ll never return to, great as they may be. Some are “good but not for me”. Some may even be too good to read again. Too strong, intense, overwhelming. Their words and stories a powerful punch to the gut.
They may be too associated with who we were (or thought we were) when we read them. Painful reminders of the feelings we had, the person we stole them from or the music we listened to that long and lonely winter. They stand on the shelves for nostalgic reasons, kept by guilt even (it was a present!)
We will find them new forever (or transitional, temporary, summer holiday) homes so that more people can enjoy good books and you can have some free space at home (for more good books?). 📚❤️
