SCS’s lower the expenses long term for people who use drugs, saving tax dollars. Safe site = less chance of hospitalizations and safer practices in substance use

The hurdle to overcome in people's minds is that providing these areas doesn't mean you are enabling or encouraging them.

They are supporting an effort to stop people from dying.

If you can frame it that way, and make it past the other BS you would be hard pressed to find those against it.

Idk I think people have been framing it that way and it's being ignored. It's not a matter of the message being out there, it's people who don't have a personal connection to substance use disorder finding it easier to see users as less human, and to do that they can't hear that framing.

It’s hard because the concept of “enabling” has been disproven, and its original intent referred to abusive/codependent interpersonal relationships, not public health services, but it’s cemented in the public consciousness as fact that support is bad because of AA lit written 50 years ago
