I had a collie with a similar attitude to extra strong mints. He would take one, bark at it, roll around on it a bit, then eventually eat it with a grimace on his face.
Mika appears to genuinely enjoy the bitter middle bits of lettuce, though. Strange child.
People have bitter taste receptor polymorphisms that leave them more or less sensitive to the taste, (interestingly those might be linked to various pathologies and longevity)
Maybe dogs are the same? 🧐
