We cannot have healthy college sports without healthy colleges. Now would be a great time for coaches, athletic directors, and those involved in the college sports enterprise to speak out *about the value of higher education* and about how their enterprise is tied in with something larger.

I'm just one dipshit with a small voice, but I feel like I have to do this even more explicitly than I might have otherwise been doing. The very concept of the public good of American higher ed is under attack. If sports are the front porch, they gotta be part of the sector's defense too.

I'd bet a lot of P-5 ADs want to devalue higher ed itself so that they aren't held to any sort of standards.

While smaller schools and programs will be hurt, the larger ones will just leverage it to distance from Title IX and invite private equity for funding.

The enrollment inducing sports I would assume become a real mess in a hurry, my NAIA alma mater has added a bunch since I graduated in 04, and the school hasn't grown at all on the residential campus. (It's also a lot more resourced than it's GPAC peers.)
