We’re witnessing a Brexit-level instance of completely unnecessary economic destruction. A country that’s not hit by any shock, but simply chooses policy self-harm.

The reactionary nationalism that let significant chunks of the electorate imagine they could turn back the clock and take back their country from largely illusory threats was fueled by explicit calls to racism and nativism. Overlooking this will mean more self destruction.
