Preferred the Pistols 1st to The Clash, the production on the first Clash album sounded poor to me, improved for the 2nd but only liked the first 3 songs, but this 12" single with the long Armagideon Time, the LP & seeing them live made me realise how great they were!

The song has entered British national life- in the year before the London 2012 Olympics, it was used to begin the countdown despite the apocalyptic lyrics; and the album cover (released shortly after the single release) was used on an album cover.

Older and cooler kids at my school told me you could only like one of The Clash or the Sex Pistols and you had to hate the other. So I missed The Clash in their heyday. That was my punishment for listening to the cool kids.
