Me, I'm like, "Hey that's the singer for LARD!" I love Lard. Now I have to check out The Dead Kennedys. I know the name and knew they were punk, but really never heard them. A friend in the early to mid 90's told me to check out Lard. Also liked Ministry too.

It's all about timing, age and exposure. I do have Black Flag's entire catalog on digital. A friend helped me out with that. I hope Black Flag doesn't mind a little sharing. Henry Rollins is a little intense for me. Pigface eh?

Yep.

I first heard punk songs in '84, and by fall of '86, I'd fully "punked-out" and most of the bands I liked were long gone, breaking up, or getting metal. 😬

Pigface was *the* industrial / punk-ish supergroup in the early 90s

PiL, NIN, Ministry, Skinny Puppy, Rollins Band members were all rotated through, and many more!

Pailhead (Ministry & Ian MacKaye) is another genre crossing group I'd recommend from back then

Saw them many a time back in the day at Mabuhay Gardens in SF. Jello ran for mayor once, lol!

And Fresh Fruit for Rotting Vegetables is one of the best first albums by any band ever.

( Of course I do say that about many first albums, lol). But it's one of them!

Only about a decade before my time, sometimes it makes me crazy that I was so close to when that scene was happening. I started going to punk shows in the early 90s so I still saw a lot of great stuff, but just missed out on some of the OGs.

Addendum. Many fantastic things happened that night. I was in a band..Dumb Dumb Bullet Theory... When people ask what would you change if you could go back in time. I'd have 1000 more nights like that one. We LOVED Dead Kennedys for Jellos comments that night! I came away $200 and a microphone up.😄👍

2/2 their studded belts were confiscated-classed as weapons at the time. Cops got them to sign them, showed them to the confiscation room where they chose new belts, which had even bigger studs. Had a FKing great night. Jello smashed a pineapple on his head on stage in an act of political defiance

1/2 Got free tickets in Brisbane in 1983 for taking two of them skateboarding. Peligro, was arrested after the show for drinking in public, he had an unopened can of beer. Jello Biafra, described the experience as "the closest thing to a heavy, heavy, junta-style police state I've ever been in".
