It’s a distraction from other things, but it’s also not a distraction because Trump’s lawlessness is continual and always a “distraction” from other lawlessness like crypto scams and other corruption. The only real debate is whether Americans will accept living under a lawless regime.

He is trying to distract MAGA by saying LA has riots and a bunch of bad things happening there, so they don't focus on his mistakes. In reality: 1) He is balls deep in trouble over the economy, DOGE, civil rights and more, 2) He creates huge problems in LA, then acts like a hero trying to fix them.

I don't know if that captures the full view. IMO, some conservatives are only worried about their own bankrolls or nest eggs but want to be seen as being good ppl so need to be lied to so they can remain ignorant to his evil and abhorrent destruction. Slightly different flavor of awful ppl.

IT'S NOT A DISTRACTION.
All of these things - the budget, the crimes they're committing, the stripping away of rights, ICE overreach & Natl Guard deployment - are equally important and not a distraction from anything.
