Supposedly the anti-DEI push is to promote "lethality." In no small part, the lethality of the US Navy is due to a Jewish immigrant academy grad named Hyman Rickover who fostered intellectual rigor in the officers he trained. AFAIK there is no record of the number of push ups he could do.

Anecdote about Rickover's exercise regimen: He typically took breaks during the day to run in place for a minute or so & do a few very-old-fashioned standing calisthenics, & that was pretty much it. He was in, what, his 80s when he (finally) retired?

I recommend reading the pre election statement put out by the alumni of West Point (The long gray line) titled
'Character matters'.

I honestly believe the military is waiting to see if the courts hold the line, they are loathe to intervene in civil politics.
