What the LPC and NDP need to do is stop worrying about who their leaders are and sign a non-compete deal for the next election. Vote splitting is going to hand the election to PP, regardless of whether Singh and Trudeau are in place or not.
Jagmeet Singh IS another Jack Layton. He also put his personal ambition ahead of the country and gave us 10 horrid years of harper. I don’t understand this saintification of a man who was more used car salesman than party leader just because he had some pretty words to say at the end.
While Singh and Layton share several traits and ideologies, Singh is not the populist leader currently needed to catapult the party to a position of power.
No he will not. He needs to choose a side, Canada or his personal ambition. All parties except for the cons should be aligning to keep little pp out of power.
That's not to say all his policies or approaches were great. Like any politician, there were several decisions that warranted criticism. That said, his trajectory was promising and one that hasn't been repeated. To say the Harper years are the fault of a single individual is an oversimplification.
I think that's a somewhat shallow position to hold towards the only NDP leader to bring the party within arms reach of the Prime Ministers seat.
You can't deny that each year he led he collected progressively more seats all the way to an all time high of 103 which formed the official opposition.
I am NDP. Not shallow at all. The Supply and Confidence Agreement allowed the NDP to put forth great things to help the average Canadian. JS threw that away because of his ambition. He has deluded himself into believing he can be PM. Canada may lean left historically but that is not going to happen.

Shame he's decided against running again, he seems like he'd be a good leader.
