I know many people who just don’t vote — wanna keep them anonymous— but it amazes me how they blame so much on the federal gov, specifically Trudeau, for problems that are the provinces domain to fix.
Apathy and lack of civic knowledge. Say they hate Canada, but have never voted in their life???
And this is an issue on both sides of the border. Too many Americans here in the states don’t understand the key differences in state gov and fed gov. Embarrassing in the age of Google.
I got a refresher on Canadian civics for free under 20 minutes on YouTube.
If you think your province or state sucks, there is a massive chance that it’s your local state gov or city gov that has the most influence in your daily life, not the federal.
Also, it is insanely easy to run for local offices. Try it sometimes. You can often win uncontested.
All those Ontarians sitting for hours in emergency rooms, looking for a nurse on the ward, those without a doctor, the kids in crumbling schools, can blame voter apathy. Goodbye Ontario Place, welcome the new spa. Goodbye Science center . The rural voters will suffer the most from their PC votes.
The vote splitting is the major issue we need to focus on. This is not the U.S. situation where the majority voted for a right-wing wingnut. The majority of Ontarians voted for the left. We’re shooting ourselves in the foot by having two major left parties. We need to apply pressure for a merger.
💯. Sure ranked ballots or proportional representation would be better, but both are less likely than the Libs/NDP merging. So let's focus on something achievable.
I don't want to devolve to a 2 party US dumpster fire, but this is the sole reason Jason Kenney bolted to AB as soon as NDP won. They merged the right bc that's where the vote is. ON it's Left rn.
I would want multiparty back on with PR (ranked or other) going forward. 2 party forces more division
You can’t blame yourself for Canadian apathy towards voting. It’s always been this way. Later they’ll complain to each other why they hate their elected lawmakers over their beer while sitting on the couch watching hockey.
There needs to be a rule that if less than 60% (or even 50%) of eligible voters vote, the winning party needs to form a coalition with the 2nd place party.
I really want to LOL at this. Not just laugh but point and laugh. So are you all finally understanding how trump is back in office? At least it's not your PM right?
Of course weather was a factor. That is why this corrupt premier called an unnecessary early election in the middle of our worst winter in decades. Another voter suppression tactic.
Lots of people didn't receive voter registration cards. My 85 year old aunt doesn't have internet or smartphone. She needs the card to know where to vote. I called her and looked up the information for her.
I didn’t get a card until the day before the election. Apparently all you needed was ID, but not many people seemed to know that. I feel the entire election could have been handled better. Thank you for helping her!
My didn't get hers as of last night. Maybe it will show up today, or never. The election should never have been held. Thats the best way to handle it 😆
I found it interesting that 3 of us in the same household got our voter cards on different days. In the past we have always received them together. My husbands did not arrive until voting day. I know that you do not need the card to vote & we did not wait- that may have stopped others tho.
Our Conservative govt refused to send out voter cards for our Nov election and voter turnout was the lowest it has ever been at 45%. They were able to send out their campaign material though.
Probably everyone who became legal age is that pivotal 2% factor.
I just do not understand what's happening in the world?
Is this some time ripple and we're in an altered timeline which is now losing cohesion?
When did everything get so stupid when internet gave everyone access to information?
the us has failed to educate, which breaks a democracy, does it not? instead ignorance has become a glorified „freedom“. please take note: no one is coming to save anyone; we got to get past this ourselves.
It is literally a network of networked computers.
Plain and simple.
No one governing body controls it.
It has NO vetting system.
Its STILL the users responsibility to not be lazy and ignorant on here.
That is why what's happening in the USA exposes how entitled life really was there.
Its over NOW!
Why didn't you know there is a new chapter of Maga here in Ontario called Moga. They ignore our health care crisis, build 3rd party spas and are under RCMP investigation still and of course the greenbelt scandal. But heh your $200 did the trick.

But I was so annoyed when I saw PC had 2M votes, Lib 1.5M and NDP 900k. Yet he got 75 seats to 13 and 25 respectively.
What the actual f*ck.......
