MANY years ago I attended a lecture by Dr. Sylvia Earle on her Arctic work. She brought along a 20 lb chunk of glacier ice that got broken up to chill post-lecture drinks. The ice gently efforvesced ancient atmospheric gases into your scotch. Won't forget that.
Xkcd is one of the most consistently funny comics on the Internet. I think the only one I like more is Saturday Morning Breakfast Cereal. But they’re both totally brilliant.
Depends mostly on how long ago that year was. If you are young, the ice will not have compacted so much, so the years ice volume by diameter would be larger....
