Capitalists will always try to restrict supply to create demand and max profit. Whether that is through environmental legislation or zoning. The real issue is how America creates a false scarcity by limiting access to land and concentrates resources and opportunity in cities.
I read his article in the March 2025 issue of The Atlantic. I question the validity of his assertions. I agree that zoning laws segregated neighborhoods, but people still moved. Until the housing crisis of 2008, no one I knew didn't move because of cost or lack of opportunity. They stayed for family
