It's not going anywhere. Every company in the world is prioritizing AI projects which will end up lowering labor costs (=replace people). This is happening, unfortunately.
Eliminating the ones actually good at the jobs with more expensive/environmentally destructive option which I'll also lite eliminates the input of more [usually unethically] scraped data. It's going to be forced to consume it's own waste which will be the end of it.
It's a wickedly expensive and wasteful enterprise trying desperately to find a market to justify its existence. It could be finding patterns to diagnose breast cancer earlier, but instead it's pushing "answers" it's scraped from 4chan and the onion as fact on search results.
It's still learning, it's a fledgling technology. And to confirm it is learning, I just did a search using AI and it said angel mushrooms are not edible.
It's not always going to make the same mistakes it has in the past, but it doesn't have the understanding of the quality difference between input scraped from 4chan and The Onion and professional journals. It's also running out of data to steal so is starting to ingest it's own excrement.
There are also now bunches of AI generated books on mushroom identification for purchase online that are full of inaccurate and dangerous information. I genuinely don't trust content put out since 2020 unless I genuinely know the source. This will literally get people sick and/or dead.
