Watching with horror what is happening in the US. I've just saved a copy of the NASA style guidelines as a record in case they remove the provision for non-gender-specific language. π§ͺ WomenInSTEM

Iβm still scraping marine data from Federal websites to get it back to the U.K. with me. There are unconfirmed rumors - and let me stress the unconfirmed part - that data is disappearing from https://Data.gov. Probably just DEI stuff, but stillβ¦
I can tell you that colleagues who work at agencies indicate that there is a combination of utter chaos and complete opacity on the way forward. So Iβm choosing to do what I can, when I can. Iβd be delighted to find out Iβm overreacting.
At risk of giving them an idea, they probably won't just remove the provision for non-gender language, they will probably just require the use of man/men in all postings.
This is not an invitation for people to start debating whether 'man', 'manned', mankind etc just means human. It does not and I will be ignoring anyone who attempts to do so, however well-meaning.

So sad we have to start thinking about preserving such mundane tools for everyday communication as vanishing cultural artefacts. Sigh.
